A good plot-summary (partially literary critical), and an argument that Matilde is an "imitation" of Chateaubriand's Aventures du dernier des Abencerages. This cannot be as Matilde was published in 1805 and Le Dernier Abencerage in 1826. Cottin was influenced by Chateaubriand's Atala (1801), Genie du Christianisme (1802), and Rene (included in Genie du Christianisme), but the parallels found between Matilde and Le Dernier Abencerage may show Chateaubriand had been reading Matilde.
Scott's The Talisman is a parallel later effort. Like Scott, Cottin makes use of a number of contemporary chronicles and later histories.
Matilde may also be influenced by Sophia Lee's The Recess; or, A Tale of Other Times (1783-85, second corrected edition, 1786); or (more likely) by one or both of two late 18th century translations into French: Le Souterrain, ou Matilde, traduit de l'anglais sur la 2e edition by P.-B. La Mare (Paris: T. Barrois, 1786), 3 vol. in-12, NB; or La Vie d'Eleanore, Episode faisant dans le 9me vol. de la Nouv. Bibl. des romans. 1799, NBR.
