I foolishly believed that teasing didn't exist here, because we were all potential victims of it, or had been victims.
I shouldn't have underestimated the mind of the silly child. Little Artie didn't think to make fun of my hair, with Miss Storm around, which just made his comment on my gloves hurt more.
"Why do you wear those gloves? Are you afraid to show your hands?" And laughter containing more malice then he realized. It hurt.
Mr. Summers heard him, and gave him a stern lecture. He won't do it again.
But I've lost just a little more faith.
